Giuliani - The Campaign - Is It Working?

  • Giuliani: I'm Among Best Known Americans - examiner.com - Dodds, Paisley - 19 September, 2007
Giuliani is following the strategy of other US Presidential hopefuls by making a campaign stop in London, England. This is being done apparently to both appeal to Americans working in London as well as align him with Margaret Thatcher and distance himself from George W. Bush. Judging from Paisley's article, Giuliani doesn't seem to be making many waves in London: Dustin Hoffman attracts a larger crowd even as Giuliani boasts of his fame.

  • Poll: Republicans Like Giuliani's Electability - The Washington Post - Balz, Dan and Cohen, Jon - 25 July, 2007
As of July 25, 2007, Giuliani is maintaining his front-runner status amongst potential GOP candidates, according to a poll conducted by ABC News and the Washington Post. Both sides of the political spectrum believe Giuliani to be the best chance the Republican party has at winning the 2008 US Presidential Election. Giuliani's support is not as strong as the support for front-running potential Democratic presidential candidates. Only one-third of Giuliani's supporters say they strongly back him, whereas 7 out of 10 Clinton supporters claim to strongly back her, and 56% of Obama's supporters strongly back their candidate.

  • Giuliani's Unorthodox Campaign - MSNBC - The Associated Press - 10 July, 2007 - As far as financial backing goes, Giuliani is the clear front-runner amongst potential GOP Presidential candidates. Will his campaign strategy work though? He is not paying much attention to either Iowa or New Hampshire, instead focusing on the more liberal-minded states of Florida and California.

The Trash - Giuliani loves to start slinging it...

So much for the "broken windows" approach. Giuliani is set to make this one dirty race. Judging by his "perp walks" and those glorious quotes like "He's No Altar Boy", no one should be surprised Giuliani threw the first punch. Historically, he has been called out many times before in court for his over-the-top and sometimes unwarranted persecutions. We'd like to wager that this election won't be for the faint of heart.

  • Giuliani Gets Facts Wrong In Blast At Paper The Seattle Times - Saltenstall, David (New York Daily News) - 14 September, 2007
Giuliani slammed The New York Times, Sen. Hillary Clinton and left-wing political organization MoveOn.org all at the same time for an advertisement put out by MoveOn.org denouncing General Petraeus and his appraisal of progress in Iraq. Giuliani stated that the New York Times had offered MoveOn.org a discounted rate for its ad, and demanded that his subsequent pro-Petraeus ad be granted the same "discounted rate". Giuliani further linked Sen. Hillary Clinton to the ad. Although Clinton has not denounced the ad, she cannot be connected to it, nor has she spoken favorably of it. Not content to stop with a false story and an illegitimate connection being made between this exaggeration and Clinton's possible run in the 2008 US Presidential Election, the White House jumped in and further used innuendo to associate a criticism of General Petraeus to a criticism of the military (read troops).
If you want to attack him [President George W. Bush], fine, but the generals, and by association the military, should be out of bounds from partisan attacks - White House Spokeswoman Dana Perino
