Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and His Previous Involvement in Questionable Activities
Its election time, so these are bound to come up. We only link to information from widely respected publications, so be assured this is no tabloid reading, rather, serious discussion of possibly some other than admirable deeds Mr. Giuliani has taken part in. Also included are links to the scandalous escapades of those close to him.
- Group Wants Giuliani Priest Pal Fired - Los Angeles Times - June 22, 2007 - Eltman, Frank
Note:The link to the original article by Frank Eltman is no longer actively published by the Los Angeles Times. As of 08/22/07, a request has been sent by HesNoAltarBoy.com to the Los Angeles Times, asking for where we may find a copy of the article to publish here.
A representative of Giuliani's firm, Giuliani Partners, states that it has "no plans to fire Monsignor Alan Placa". Placa, a childhood friend of Giuliani's, was suspended from his duties as a priest in 2002 after abuse allegations surfaced. Giuliani and Placa have been friends since their days at Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, NY, which is ironically also the alma mater of altar boy Patrick Dorismond. - South Carolina State Chairman for Giuliani's Presidential Campaign indicted on cocaine charges - CNN.com - June 19, 2007 - The Associated Press
South Carolina Treasurer Thomas Ravenel has been indicted on federal cocaine charges. The accusation involves a purchase of under 500 grams of the drug to share with other people in late 2005. According to Mark Campbell, Guiliani's political director, Ravenel has stepped down from his volunteer position with the Giuliani campaign. - The Yankees' Clean Up Man - The Village Voice - May 8, 2007 - Barrett, Wayne
Through an excellently researched and documented article, Barrett examines Giuliani' involvement with the New York Yankees, the uniqueness of this relationship in comparison with other American mayors, and the possible illegalities involved in it. - Diamonds are Forever - The Village Voice - May 15, 2007 - Barrett, Wayne
A follow-up piece to the above article, again penned by Wayne Barrett. In response to the initial text by Mr. Barrett, Guiliani called the examination, "a joke". Collectors of sports memoribilia and jewelers ,however, find Mr. Giuliani's appraisal laughable.

- Giuliani Testified He Was Briefed on Kerik in '00 - The New York Times - March 30, 2007 - Rashbaum, William K.
Rashbaum ties together an ongoing investigation of former NYC Police Commissioner, Bernard Kerik, and Giuliani's knowledge of Mr. Kerik's activities prior to recommending him for key law enforcement and national security posts.
Bernard Kerik is being investigated for his ties with Interstate Industrial Corporation, a company with suspected ties to organized crime. Kerik has already pleaded guilty to charges of illegally allowing Interstate Industrial to renovate his Bronx apartment free of charge. Kerik also admitted to interceding on the company's behalf for the procurement of a long-denied city license (prior denials were due to allegations of the company's involvement with organized crime). By Kerik's own admission, both his brother, Donald, and the best man at his wedding, Lawrence Ray, were given jobs by Interstate Industrial. Lawrence Ray was subsequently indicted on federal charges, along with Edward Garafola, a reputed "Gambino Soldier" and brother-in-law of "Sammy the Bull".
Kerik had been nominated to the post of Homeland Security Secretary in December 2004 by President Bush, with strong backing and endorsements from Giuliani. Mr. Kerik withdrew his name from the nomination shortly afterwards, citing tax and immigration issues with the employment of his family's nanny.
Rudy Giuliani's knowledge of Kerik's involvement in these scandals is of note as either an indication of his lack of judgement, or more dangerously, his tolerance of corruption and organized crime. Kerik has been in Giuliani's close inner circle for nearly a decade, with Rudy being godfather to Kerik's children, and even considering him to replace Howard Safir as the NYC Police Commissioner. It is questionable that Giuliani would've overlooked the federal indictment of a such a colleague, which he states is the case. Giuliani had previously given testimony under oath that he had not been notified of Mr. Kerik's involvement with Interstate Industrial prior to his promotions within the NYCPD and failed bid for Homeland Security Secretary. Giuliani's testimony before a grand jury in March of 2007 contradicts these earlier denials, stating that his former chief investigator remembered having briefed him on some aspects of Kerik's involvement. In April of 2006, Giuliani maintained that he must've simply forgotten being briefed on one or more occasions of the results of Kerik's background check. - The Women In Giuliani's Life - CBS News - May 11, 2000 - The Associated Press
It is often brought up how Rudy Giuliani is on his third wife. Sometimes it is mentioned that his first wife was a cousin and their marriage was annulled on these grounds. Occasionally it is even mentioned that Giuliani publicly humiliated his second wife by announcing the break-up of their marriage via press conference. This timely article however, brings up another woman, Cristyne Lategano, and just how ugly the whole ordeal was back in the year 2000.
